What is an Icebreaker?
The Icebreaker is a fun, unpressured way of making contact. Here’s how it works:
- When you are visiting another member’s profile, click on ‘Send an Icebreaker’.
- A quick quiz appears with four short questions, which you answer via a tickbox.
- You then indicate your choice of ‘forfeit’; you will have to honour this if it turns out that you and the other member agree on all four answers. The forfeit is nothing too demanding – for instance: ‘I’ll release my photo’
- You then send the Icebreaker invitation to the other member.
- The other member then answers the four questions. (They don’t, of course, see your answers.)
The two sets of answers are then scored against each other. You will find your Icebreaker invitation and the score under ‘Contacts’.
Next steps
Once you’ve seen how your answers compare, it’s up to you what to do next. For a start, it’s only fair to honour your forfeit.
The important thing to remember is that the Icebreaker is basically a bit of fun to get things going. If you agree on all four answers, that’s rather nice, but if you disagree on all four, that doesn’t meant there’s no future for you! Just see it as a way to get some communication going.
How many Icebreakers can you send each week?
- If you are NOT a Premium Member of PARSHIP, you can send 10 Icebreaker invitations and receive 10 invitations each week.
- If you ARE a Premium Member you can send 50 Icebreaker invitations and receive 50 invitations each week.
- If you reach the designated weekly limit, you cannot send or receive another invitation until the following Monday.
If the Icebreaker won’t work
- It is because the other member has reached his or her weekly limit (see above). You should try again on the following Monday, when the weekly allocation is renewed.
- It is because the member you have chosen lives in a country which doesn’t speak the same language as you. The Icebreaker does not function across linguistic borders. (You can, of course, send a contact request to that member, though.)
