What is a safe password?

A password is only secure if you are the only person who knows it and if it is difficult for other people to guess.

Choose a password you can remember readily, but which won't be so easy for others to find out. Under no circumstances should you choose something you’d find in the dictionary: create an artificial word that only you know.

- Your PARSHIP password can be between 4 and 12 characters in length. The longer it is, the safer it is.

- Use upper and lower case letters and also digits (in a random sequence)

- If you have been a PARSHIP member for some time, you might also have a username. Your password should not be identical to this.

Examples of bad passwords: Sunflower; parship2008; JamesBond

Example of a good password: Mmbio19Nov (mnemonic : ʺMy mother’s birthday is on 19th November.ʺ)

Why this is important

Anyone who chooses an obvious password, runs a security risk: an unauthorised third person could guess it through simple trial and error. This would appear to be legitimate to the system and PARSHIP would be unable to do anything about it.
